Receiving an Exemption from Learning English in University/College

Preparing for the Amir/Amiram

For those who are signing up to get a bachelor’s degree in an academic institution, you must pass a test that analyzes your level of English: the Amir test or the Amiram test (this does not apply to those who already took the Psychometric Test and are exempt from taking English classes).

However, those who did not get exempted through the Psychometric Test are expected to take either the Amir or Amiram test. The goal of these tests is figure out what the student’s level of English is and to figure out if he/she will need to take English courses in order to improve his/her level of English while studying to receive a bachelor's degree.

Amir Test

The Amir test was created by the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation.

The test includes 3 parts that check your academic level of English:

  1. Vocabulary.

  2. Understanding complicated sentences.

  3. Reading comprehension.

Every section has 30 questions and you have less than a minute to answer each question, on average.

“The English House” preparatory course for the Amir test increases your chances in passing the test. The course improves your level of English with the ultimate goal of receiving an exemption from English classes or at least decreasing the number of classes you need to take.

Amiram Test

The Amiram test was not created by the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation. Rather, it was created by some academic institutions, and the grade received is usually only valid at the institution where the test was taken. Additionally, the Amiram test is adaptive, meaning that the level of the questions matches the level of the person taking the test.

“The English House” preparatory course for the Amiram test increases your chances in passing the test. This course also improves your level of English with the ultimate goal of receiving an exemption from English classes or at least decreasing the number of classes you need to take.
